Signs You Need a New Furnace Installed

With winter fast approaching, now is the perfect time to give your furnace a little test run. After all, winter temperatures in Stony Plain can reach an average low of -17.4°, making a fully-functional furnace a must. With that in mind, turn on your heating and be on the lookout for the following problems:

Weird Noises

If you’ve been hearing clanging or banging sounds coming from your vents or from the furnace itself, you should be worried. Simply put, your furnace shouldn’t be making those noises.

Uneven Heating

A fully-functional furnace will be able to heat your entire home evenly. If you notice that several rooms in your home are toasty while others remain frigid, call an HVAC specialist to come and clean your air ducts. If that doesn’t work, you may need to have your furnace replaced.

Yellow Pilot Light

If you notice your furnace’s pilot light is burning yellow instead of the usual brilliant blue, immediately turn it off! This is a sign that your furnace is producing carbon monoxide, which is poisonous when inhaled repeatedly over long periods of time.

If you notice any of these signs, you should immediately call your HVAC service and request for a replacement furnace. It is best that you do this now. After all, you wouldn’t want your furnace to fail you in the middle of the winter and leave you out in the cold.
